 RPP Youth Wing Backs DPP’s Appeal in Malanji and Yamba Case


The Republican Progressive Party (RPP) Youth Wing has commended the Director of Public Prosecutions, Gilbert Phiri, for filing a notice of appeal against the conviction and sentencing of former Foreign Affairs Minister Joseph Malanji and former Secretary to the Treasury Fredson Yamba.


In a statement to ZNBC News, RPP National Youth Chairman Constantino Mubita said the party fully supports the DPP’s action.


Mr. Mubita expressed concern that while ordinary citizens are often handed long sentences with hard labour for minor offences, politically exposed persons and influential figures appear to receive lenient judgments.


He emphasized that cases involving the abuse of public resources must attract the stiffest punishment, as they deprive citizens of essential services in health, education, and energy.
